The Great 2012 Cooking Extravaganza! Day 183-185

July 6, 2012 at 10:12 pm (Food, Personal)

Hello again friends, and welcome back!

I feel like I’ve been slacking off the past few days, but I’ve been doing more family stuff and more work stuff, so cooking new stuff hasn’t been on the top of the list.  Sorry!!!

So today, I have more family gossip than anything else, since I haven’t really cooked anything recently.

Wednesday was the Fourth of July, William was off to Disney with his friend Noah and his mother.  They have season passes, but she booked a hotel and picked up William’s ticket, which was just SO awesome of her!  I gave William some food money and some souvenir money.  He bought Lego’s at the Lego store, and got me a couple of pressed souvenir pennies, which I LOVE!  (I used to get them every time James and I went to my mother’s, back when it was just he and I, we lived in Michigan and my folks lived in Maryland.  We would go once a month, so I have a BUNCH of pressed pennies.)  It was so sweet of him to think of me, but then he’s a sweet kid!

Mike and I spent most of the day watching movies, stuff we couldn’t watch with William around, scary stuff.  I did some crafty stuff, too.  I had thought I was going to make some earrings, after all, I have some new beads to play with, but I felt like parking my butt on the couch instead of the hard wooden kitchen chair, so I did some needlepoint on plastic canvas type stuff instead.  James had to work in the evening, so it was just Mike and I, and we had about $30 between us.  So of course, we had to go out!  Arby’s for dinner, DQ for dessert.  I did come home and make fresh whipped cream to go on the ice cream, does that count as “cooking”??  I really need to work on a recipe for sweetened whipped cream, it wasn’t anywhere sweet enough for me!

Thursday was pay day for me, thank goodness, but since James had to work, and he needed my car, William and I were stuck here with no food and no car, so we ordered pizza for dinner!  Mike walked in about 5 minutes after the pizza got here, so we got to have dinner together, which was nice.  Gotta say, Jet’s pizza is pretty good, and not overly expensive.  My only complaint is that it takes them a minimum of an hour to deliver.  And once again, no cooking going on at all!

Friday, pay day for Mike, James is working again so he’s got my car.  And we decided we needed a real night out!  So, off we went…  Jimmy John’s subs, actually pretty good.  Comic book store, Mike and William had books on order they had to pick up.  Payless, I really wanted a pair of sort of beige shoes for work, got those and some pretty turquoise shoes, too.  Then, Mike needed work shoes, so he got those and a pair of sandals.  And William’s shoes are wearing out, so he got new tennis shoes!  Luckily, they were having a BOGO sale, so we got some good deals.  I finally found a purse I liked, but it wasn’t on sale, so I passed…  Maybe next pay day!  I’ve waited this long, what’s another week or two.  Can you tell we’ve ended up with a little extra this month?  It’s nice to be in this position for a change.  Gotta go grocery shopping tomorrow, but I’m ready for it!  Got a list, got my coupons, we’re out of everything, so I get to shop for real, and got the cash to do it!  YEAH!!!

So, no recipes today, again.  But, with shopping tomorrow, and nothing planned but laundry for Sunday, I should be able to pull together some cool stuff to share.  I know for sure I’m making bread in the machine, maybe some rolls, thinking about cinnamon rolls, too.  So I know I’ll have something to share…

Until tomorrow, then, eat well, love well, live well!
